Every region in the world is either stagnant in its overall corruption efforts or showing signs of decline, according to Transparency International’s (TI’s) new annual Corruption Perception Index (CPI).

Western Europe and the EU remains the top-scoring region, but TI is keen to reiterate that large-scale corruption schemes are predominantly transnational, often involving companies or facilitators based in countries ranked highly in the index.
